The modern PowWow has many different types of dancers. The wide range of dance styles and outfits make the arena a colorful and interesting place to visit. Each dancers forms his or her dance style and creates his dance clothes as both an expression of himself and the traditions of the dance they have chosen.


Grass Dancer

Old Style

The only period dance that one normally can find at a pow wow, the Old Style dancer provides a glimpse back into history of what the earlier native dances may have been like.

Traditional

The modern evolution of the Old Style, traditional dancers are perhaps the most common native dancers found in today's dance arbors.

Grass Dance

Regarded as the oldest style of dance at the pow wow, the grass dance has evolved through time to be one of the most enchanting dance styles of today's pop wow.

Strait Dance

Coming out of the Southern US, the strait dance is often thought of as the "coat and tie" of modern dance.

Fancy Dance

The fancy dance is a marvel of the athletic dancer, offering a wide range of spins, flips and movement in a swirl of bright colors.
